Product usage

Find out how to get the most out of NeoPhi.

What is NeoPhi?

NeoPhi is a scientific exploration assistant that automatically generates sourced, structured literature review from millions of academic papers.

How does NeoPhi work?

You enter a question or topic in natural language. Our AI models identify the most relevant publications and deliver a structured synthesis with traceable, exportable citations.

Who is NeoPhi for?

Researchers, PhD students, R&D engineers, innovation leads, consultants and scientific analysts.

Can I see an example literature review?

Yes, you can generate your own example by using the synthesis feature included in the free license plan.

How do I get publications in French?

Science largely publishes in English, and it isn’t always easy to find publications only in French or in your native language. However, our latest update greatly improves NeoPhi’s ability to find publications in the language of the research question. You can also prioritize articles redacted in the same language as you question.

Can NeoPhi help me frame a better research question?

Very soon, yes! This feature is under development and will first be available to our NeoMax users.

Does NeoPhi replace a scientific search engine?

No — NeoPhi complements search engines: it doesn’t just list articles, it synthesizes their content to reveal trends and consensus.

Can I ask for publications from prestigious journals and conferences only?

Yes. You can filter on journal and conference rankings, either before running the search or afterwards.

Can the same question give different results?

NeoPhi explores the literature from your question. A vague question produces a broad, variable search space, so results shift from one query to the next. A precise question converges on a stable signal: you reliably get the same relevant articles.

Can I request that specific publication lists be added for my needs?

Not at this stage. We are, however, looking at the best way to add sources on request, or to connect you to the publication collections you already use.

How do I get better answers from the tool?

Any relevant context helps NeoPhi find the best publications: your specific research field, your development or application constraints, your geography, and so on. Queries have a minimum length but no maximum — make the most of it.

Can I get alerts when new publications appear for my past searches?

Yes. NeoMax users can choose which research sessions they want to be alerted about when new publications appear.

What does the framework choice do?

The framework you select shapes the outline of the synthesis and where the emphasis falls when it is generated. Explanation, challenges and limits: focuses on explaining the literature for a non-expert reader, emphasising the field’s challenges and the current limits of scientific knowledge. Research directions: focuses on identifying emerging research directions in the literature related to your question. Explicit and related articles: prioritises articles that answer your topic explicitly within your specific field.

Why does my answer stop generating partway through?

Because there is a maximum limit on generated tokens while we optimize our infrastructure.

My generation stopped — what should I do?

Refresh the page, then double-click your research session: the generation should resume automatically.

I can’t start my search — what should I do?

Your question needs to be at least 30 characters before it can be sent to NeoPhi — and we recommend writing more than that: the more precise the question, the better the results.

Sources & reliability

Learn more about our sources and how we verify them.

Which sources does NeoPhi use?

NeoPhi draws on Semantic Scholar, OpenAlex and other open databases — over 7,400 indexed journals and conferences. We clean, qualify and index every article to provide a base of verified, high-quality sources, so every statement is linked to an identifiable source. If you are looking for a specific reference, just ask and we will tell you whether it is among our sources.

What are the publication rankings based on?

The rankings of journals and conferences are based on our aggregation of different lists from rating organizations, including CORE data.

Are the generated syntheses reliable?

Yes — answers are built from verified, cited academic publications, with confidence levels displayed.

Does the AI sometimes invent sources?

No — NeoPhi does not fabricate references. Sources come exclusively from validated academic databases.

What’s the difference between NeoPhi and Elicit or Consensus?

Elicit sorts articles, Consensus summarizes opinions, NeoPhi writes complete syntheses with citations and professional exports.

Security & data

We focus on providing you with a secure and powerful tool.

Is NeoPhi a sovereign tool?

Yes. Data is hosted in Puteaux, France, on F.Initiatives’ premises, on ISO 27001- and 42001-compliant servers.

How do you guarantee the security of our data?

We have a range of measures in place to keep your data secure. If you would like the detail of those measures, please get in touch.

Are my queries confidential?

Yes. NeoPhi complies with the GDPR and keeps no personal data without explicit consent.

Is research data used to train the AI?

No — queries and results are never used to train the models. Enterprise customers can opt for dedicated hosting.

My browser says “Your connection is not private” — what should I do?

That message means your browser could not validate our security certificate. First check with your IT team that your network isn’t applying a restriction. If the problem persists, get in touch: it may be a certificate we need to renew on our side, and we will handle it promptly.

Subscription & support

How to manage your subscription and payments.

Is there a free version?

Yes — 30 searches and 3 generations free per month, with limited export. The Pro and Max plans unlock more searches and generations, plus advanced features such as automated monitoring (coming soon).

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

You can cancel at any time from your account area. Your data stays available for 30 days after deactivation.

Can I update my payment details?

We work with Stripe to process payments. For privacy and security reasons, NeoPhi has no access to your payment information and therefore cannot change it. Stripe offers several payment methods, the most common being Link. That is most likely where your details are stored: sign in to Link with your email address to update them.

Can I be refunded for the unused part of my current period?

No, we don’t offer that at this stage.

Can I use NeoPhi as a team?

Yes — the Enterprise plan enables collaborative work with role management.

Is technical support available?

Yes — via the help center or the built-in chat (9am–6pm CET). Pro users get priority support by email.

Identity & brand

For the curious, more about our identity and how we present ourselves.

Why the name NeoPhi?

“Neo” for the new era of research, “Phi (Φ)” for shared knowledge — a symbol of balance between academic rigor and AI.
